| Part of Cynosure Emedia Ltd, lookupsport.com was created by sports lovers for sports lovers. The idea began in 2005 when the creators Dom Wray and Fraser Mitchell realised how difficult it is to find specific sports related products, equipment and services on the internet. They had found from personal experience that using the major search engines or local directories, provided them with either irrelevant results or a very small choice of options. Further investigations showed that the reason for this was that only the major corporations could afford expensive pay per click campaigns. This meant there were thousands of other smaller sports related businesses out there, who simply could not be found on the internet. | | | | Dom and Fraser’s idea was to create a new and unique search engine, aimed purely at sports businesses, services and clubs. The intention was that sports enthusiasts in the UK would be able to find whatever they were looking for within a matter of seconds. In addition, businesses would have a cost effective method of attracting customers to their premises or driving traffic to their websites. | | | Nearly 12 months and over 25000 lines of programming later, lookupsport.com was launched.
Lookupsport currently lists Retailers, Sports Therapists, Dive Schools, Golf Professionals, Clubs, and Events, and will soon list, Water Sports Centres, Gyms, Personal Trainers, Skate Parks, and Swimming Baths to mention but a few. All entries can be found using either a post code and/or a keyword search, which means you can be as specific as you choose to be when running searches. | | | |
In short the aim is to make lookupsport.com THE place to come to find anything sports related. To this end the pages have been designed to be quick to load and easy to navigate.
